Sculpture Grades 6-12

Your Art Curriculum for the Middle and High School Student

(Elementary can do projects with parent help, older students work independently.)

"The illustrated instructions are clear and include all the details needed for success. I like the tips such as what to do when the pulp gets thin, and where to let the pieces dry, and for how long." -Jennifer Grunmeier

"I really like that in this program students learn the processes involved in using a variety of materials. They truly become a creator and sculptor by implementing the methods described in this book." - Kathryn C. cumminslife.blogspot.com

Sculpture Technique, Construct

paper making | cardboard construction| paper-mache | wire

Sculpture Technique, CONSTRUCT offers students, upper elementary to high school, the opportunity to discover their own creative strengths in the world of three-dimensions. This book is the first of its kind to bring the processes and concepts of construction methods in papermaking, papier-mâché, cardboard and wire into the home environment. Unlike craft books, the assignments in this book focus on processes of working with specific materials while introducing the elements of sculpture in ways students can put into practice immediately. Students work as sculptors, creating original sculptures while selecting subject matter that is interesting and relevant to their own lives.

Sculpture Technique Construct includes four unique units and twelve projects introducing students to four elements of sculpture (Form, Planes, Motion, and Volume) while introducing the media of papermaking, cardboard construction, papier-mache, and wire.

Unit Evaluation: Students reflect on their accomplishments as they complete an evaluation page. They examine how the element of sculpture was used in their completed sculptures , reflect on technical issues, and consider the subject of fine arts as it relates to their completed sculptures within the unit. Answers are provided at the back of the book. This evaluation together with the completed sculptures provides a number grade for each unit.
