Elements and Principles of Art

Presenting the fundamental elements and principles of art is foundational to teaching art, and required in the National Standards for the Visual Arts. Grades 4-12 benefit when each Unit is based on a different element of art, concepts like line, shape, space, texture, value, form, and color. Your child will explore each element in four unique projects. The text is well written and beautifully illustrated in full color. Content is delivered in a simple way that allows kids to grasp the different elements of art with a variety of examples and art activities for each. Beginner, intermediate and advanced levels provide opportunities for your child to progress in their art skills. The principles of art, concepts like overlap, repetition, depth, perspective, and proportion, are primarily shown in the art video portion of the units.
